For a small fee, you'll spend a day seeing what a job is really like before you commit to training, education, or a career path. This is a view-only experience — no hands-on work — but it's the closest you can get to stepping into a career without taking the leap.

1) Find Your Job Shadowing Experience

Browse businesses in your area offering job shadowing opportunities. Narrow your search by specific jobs or explore all available options near you.

2) Schedule Your Job Shadowing Day

Each business lists available dates and times. Most experiences last a full 8-hour day, giving you a complete picture of the role.

3) Pay Online

Part of your payment goes toward scholarships, career readiness programs, or other initiatives that help students and job seekers succeed.

4) Join Your Job Shadowing Experience

After payment, you'll get a confirmation email with details on:

  • What to wear and bring
  • Where to meet
  • Contact information

A typical day lasts 8 hours and may include travel to job sites. You'll observe the role, glean information from your experience provider, and have the chance to ask questions. Since each day in a job can be very different, we recommend trying several job shadowing experiences.
